The following are some general explanations of your Student Transfer Evaluation:
This STUDENT TRANSFER EVALUATION shows how the courses you successfully completed at other institutions are accepted in transfer by the
University of Wisconsin-Stout. The fact that a course transfers does not guarantee that it will meet requirements in your major course of study at
UW-Stout. Your credits are transferred in SEMESTER CREDIT HOURS. Quarter credit hours or other course units have been converted to
semester credits. While UW-Stout transfers courses in which you have earned a grade of "D-" or better, you may wish to check the catalog under the
major you are entering as some of our majors require you to have earned a "C" or better in order to use the course in your program.
ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT is typically provided by the program director of your major. For transfer students you will need to consult your
program director to determine how your transfer credits will apply towards your major's degree requirements. Their names, room & building &
phone numbers are on the back of this information sheet. A copy of your Student Transfer Evaluation will be provided to your program director prior
to registration. For New Freshman you will work with your First-Year Advisor initially.
The left half of your Student Transfer Evaluation (under External Transfer Record) shows the course, title, credit(s) and grade of the courses you took
at your previous school(s). The right half of your Student Transfer Evaluation (under Internal Equivalency/Reject Reason) indicates how the courses
you took at your previous school(s) transfer to UW-Stout.
Where a course from another college is directly equivalent to a UW-Stout course, the UW-Stout "Subject,” “ Nbr” and “Title” columns show the
specific UW-Stout department, course number and course title satisfied by the transfer course. Where no direct equivalent exists, a course may be
listed as an elective in a specific subject area (i.e. ENGL XXX). The following are other Subject/Nbr indicators you may encounter and their
meanings:

TRDIS-NTS
TRDIS-INV
TRDIS-REV

AP/IB/CLEP: If you have earned credit through credit by examination (example: CLEP or AP), you must provide the Admissions Office with an
original score report. Scores recorded on high school or post-secondary transcripts are not acceptable. Exact equivalencies based on
score received is available on-line at http://www.uwstout.edu/admissions/ap_ib_clep.shtml.
ELECTIVE CREDIT: Courses that transfer as Elective Credit (example: PSYC-XXX) only means that the course does not transfer as an exact
match to a course offered at UW-Stout. It does not mean that it cannot be used in your program. That is between you and your advisor to determine.
COURSE SUBSTITUTIONS in your major and/or minor must be approved by your program director and/or minor advisor.
GENERAL POLICIES: To be granted a degree by UW-Stout, 30 of your last 60 credits must be earned in residence (through UW-Stout).
IP GRADE courses are courses you are currently enrolled in. These courses have been taken off of the transcript from the transferring institution.
We have indicated how the courses will transfer but have not granted you any credit. When we receive an updated transcript showing grades, we will
change the "IP" to the letter grade and you will then receive credit for the course.
GROUP CREDIT: Incoming courses that transfer as part of a group (i.e. two or more transfer courses equals one or more UW-Stout courses) are
given the lowest grade of the two incoming courses.
GRADE TRANSFER: Grades do not transfer and count in your cumulative GPA as seen in your Stout record. However, to be considered for
graduation with honors, a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 must have been earned in all credits completed at UW-Stout and
additional credits accepted at UW-Stout, as indicated on the transcript and Degree Audit, from all previous institutions attended.
NOTE: IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT TO SEE THAT THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE RECEIVES FINAL, OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS
FROM ALL COLLEGES PREVIOUSLY ATTENDED. TRANSFER STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO PROVIDE COMPLETE OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS
MAY BE PROHIBITED FROM REGISTERING FOR FUTURE TERMS AT UW-STOUT.
