Staff and graduate student workers will discuss some of treasures and oddities of the WIU Archives and Special Collections. Learn about the Utopian French Icarians, the Mormon Wars of 1830s, and the Illinois Regional Archives Depository Collection. This may your first visit to an archive. It may or may not help with future research. Either way, you will get to see some interesting history. The tour will start at the Western Illinois History Museum, 201 South Lafayette Street, at approximately 3:45 and last for 30 minutes, highlighting prominent people and events in Macomb’s Civil War history. Transportation from the campus to downtown can be arranged for anyone needing it. Several restaurants are on the square for dinner on your own following the tour. Call for Papers The WIU Department of History annually publishes the Western Illinois Historical Review, a student peer-reviewed journal. We invite all conference participants to submit revised copies of their papers for consideration by the Review for publication in the spring of 2017.
