Howwerespondtothesethreatswillultimatelyimpacthumanprosperityandsurvival. Dr.Sparks'researchfocusesonsoilandenvironmentalchemistry--specificallythereactionratesof metalsandnutrientswithmineralsurfacesandsoilsandimpactsonbioavailabilityandtransportin soilsandwater.SincejoiningtheUDfaculty36yearsago,Dr.Sparkshascreatedaninternationally prominentgraduateprograminenvironmentalsoilchemistryintheCollegeofAgricultureand NaturalResources.Hehaswonnumerousawardsandhonors,includingtheUniversity'shighest academicrecognition,theFrancisAlisonAward,andUD'sDoctoralStudentAdvisingandMentoring Award,ofwhichhewasthefirstrecipient.
