We believe our responsibility extends beyond just preparing our students academically for college. Our
aim is to create a college-going culture designed to support success by expanding our services to assist
families in their transition to high school, college and career. We will facilitate the creation of a collegegoing culture by inspiring students through social processes and social development programs.

We will raise academic expectations by ensuring that GEARUP students receive the academic
preparation, support, and guidance necessary to succeed in high school, college and career. We will
increase the resources (e.g., tutoring, advising, prep courses) available to give students the ability to
began believing in themselves.

We will prepare our students by raising their awareness of admission requirements and financial aid
opportunities to help them support university and community college study. We will encourage

We will significantly increase the number of students who are prepared to enter and succeed in
college and career after graduating from high school by having them apply the knowledge and skills

We will commit to growth, development, and success of our East Texas area. The long-term stability
of our area, the state, and the nation relies on an educated citizenry and ALL Texans deserve to be a
part of that future. We will reveal our students potential which will make a difference- not just in the
lives of the approximately 1500 students served by our GEAR UP Project- but to the countless others
in our nearby schools and communities.
