












Increased visibility and accessibility
Access to available services and equipment on the
University’s campus, including room and space reservation,
access to services provided by DUST, catering services, use
of resources available in the Student Organization Resource
Center (SORC)
Permission to use the University name and logo when
identifying the organization in accordance with University
regulations and policies
Access to funds from student activity fees (SAFAC) and other
university funding opportunities
Leadership training, retreats, and programs and educational
resources offered through OCA
Opportunity to participate in New Student Orientation, New
Student Days and Welcome Back Week events
Opportunity to acquire office/storage space on a yearly basis
for student organizational use (as available through
application process)
On-campus student agency accounts for fund development
and dues collection
Opportunity to participate in community-wide Greek Week
events, such as Greek Week
Support from council and all rights and privileges associated
with council membership
Opportunity for members to hold leadership positions within
the Greek community
Listing of organization information on the FSL website and all
official publications
Leadership training, advising, retreats, and programs offered
through the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life
RESPONSIBILITIES OF RECOGNIZED CHAPTERS










Accept responsibility for the supervision and safe operation of
all sponsored programs and events and for reimbursing Drexel
University for damage to University-owned property or facilities
Assure that all promotion and advertisement of events identify
the group sponsoring the event
Maintain active and up-to-date files (membership information,
constitution, and related recognition materials) with the Office
of Fraternity & Sorority Life
Maintain the non-profit volunteer status of organization
Elect a president and treasurer that are enrolled full-time
undergraduate students in good academic standing
Send president and one other officer to the Student
Organization Orientation and Training (SOOT) session,
referred to as “Grand Chapter Meeting.”
Maintain membership of current and actively enrolled full-time
Drexel University students
Comply with all University policies and procedures as defined
in the Drexel University Student Handbook as well as
organization and Fraternity & Sorority Life policies, local, state,
and national laws and the Drexel Sports Club Manual
Have an advisor who is a Drexel administrative, faculty, or
professional staff member, in addition to a national/alumni
volunteer advisor who has basic knowledge of the structure
and purpose of the group, is aware of the group’s finances and
budget, provides useful guidance to help identify and attain
goals, is knowledgeable of Drexel policies and regulations,
civic ordinances, and state and federal laws, and maintains ongoing contact with organization officers
Agree to a membership that is open to all students who meet
the organization’s prescribed membership criteria without
regard to race, religion, national origin, gender (except as
permitted by law), sexual identity, or physical disability

KEY ADVISOR
All recognized fraternities and sororities must have an alumni/organization advisor. The role of the advisor is such that he or she should:
o
Have basic knowledge as to the history, structure, and purpose of the group.
o
Be aware of the group’s finances and budget, as his or her approval is needed for financial transactions.
o
Provide useful guidance to help the student organization identify and attain its goals.
o
Be knowledgeable of University policies and regulations, civic ordinances, and state and federal laws that affect the activity of the organization.
o
Maintain on-going contact with the officers of the organization.
