Planning Session: 1 hour 30 minutes One of the groups of tests A, B or C will be allotted to you. Read the two tests in your group carefully, and choose one of the alternatives. Then proceed in the following order: (i) Using the carbonised sheets, write down your choice of work. (ii) Make a detailed plan of work. (Do not write out the test question.) (iii) Make a list of ingredients, equipment and materials you will require to carry out the work set, and write it on the separate carbonised sheet. You will be expected to use local cleaning agents if they are satisfactory. Recipe books may be used during the planning session only. Write your candidate number and the letter and number of the test on your plan and list. Give them, with this question paper, to the Supervisor. You may not take away a copy of the test or of your plan or any notes, and you may not bring fresh notes to the practical examination. You may, if you wish, take a copy of the list of ingredients, equipment and materials you will require. The question paper, plan and list will be returned to you by the Examiner at the beginning of the Practical Test. You will be expected to keep to your plan. (a) Prepare, cook and serve a two-course meal using flavourings other than salt. (b) Launder a nightdress and a hand towel. (c) Clean the sink and surrounding work area. (d) Make a fatless sponge cake. Or 2 Elderly relatives are coming to stay. (a) Prepare, cook and serve a two-course lunch for their arrival. (b) Launder a sheet and two pillowcases. (c) Make a simple table arrangement. (d) Make a cold dessert for the following day. Group B Either 1 Your father has been unable to work. (a) Prepare, cook and serve a main meal which includes low-cost protein foods. (b) Launder a shirt and clean a pair of shoes. (c) Clean the refrigerator. (d) Make a batch of scones. Or 2 Your school is holding a musical event. (a) Prepare two sweet and two savoury dishes for the buffet. (b) Launder a blouse or shirt and skirt or trousers. (a) Prepare, cook and serve a two-course meal rich in iron and vitamin C. (b) Launder a tablecloth and two tea towels. (c) Clean the cutlery, crockery and glasses to be used for the meal. (d) Make and decorate some small cakes. Or 2 You are going to stay with a friend. (a) Prepare the packed lunch you will take with you for the journey. Include a drink. (b) Launder a dress or a T-shirt and shorts to take with you. (c) Clean your oven and work area.
