VAST VASSAR AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING August 19th, 2011 Dear VAST Families, My name is Francis Meyo and I have just taken over from Karishma as the new VAST coordinator. I am very thrilled to invite you to another exciting year at VAST! VAST Mentors and Vassar Campus community members are excited to begin the school year. We hope to build on the changes that you all proposed for this year, including the combination of mentor & parent meetings, to allow for a more interactive community. We will also be partnering with more of the great campus events, including concerts and sporting events, to continue Vassar’s goal of opening the campus to the community. Attached you will find forms for the next year. Among the forms is information about upcoming parent meetings and workshops, student participation forms, and a brief reapplication form, asking for most updated contact information. The first Parent Meeting will be Thursday, September 1st, at 6:30 pm, in the College Center Multipurpose Room. We ask that all forms be completed and returned no later than September 14th. You may return these forms by fax to (845) 437‐7359. STATEMENT OF FAMILY COMMITMENT Directions: Please read all parts carefully. This contract will determine your child’s participation in the VAST program. Please also complete the Topic Survey for Future Parent Meetings to the best of your ability. I understand that my participation is essential to supporting the VAST program. I understand that I will be asked to attend monthly parent workshops & meetings. I understand that I will promptly pick up my child at 5pm on the days that she/he attends VAST. If on any day, I am unable to pick up my child, I will arrange for an alternative pickup adult and communicate the same to VAST administrators. (Signed and dated notes are preferred). I understand that my failure to communicate with VAST administrators and my lack of attendance at parent workshops may mean that my child will be asked to leave the program.
