Teaching Experience
Twelve years. On 2nd April, 2004 joined as assistant professor in the Department of
Social Work, Mizoram University, on 6th July, 2012 was appointed as associate professor and
on 6th July, 2015 promoted as Professor.
Taught the courses such as Foundations of Social Work, Social Economic and
Political Environment, Social Work Research and Statistics, Rural Community Development,
Tribal Community Development, Urban Community Development, Social Policy and

Planning, Social Work Research, and Tribal Development in the previous years to MSW
students.
Teaching courses Foundations of Social Work and Social Development for MSW
students. I am also teaching M.Phil and Ph.D students since 2009. For the students of M.Phil
and Ph.D course work, I teach the courses such as Emerging Concepts in Social Work, and
Advanced Social Work Research.
Contribution to Curriculum Development
I have contributed to curriculum development at BSW, MSW and M.Phil/Ph.D (SW)
in Mizoram University.
I was part of BSW Curriculum Formulation Committee of Department of Social Work
in Mizoram University in 2009. I prepared the draft syllabus of Sociology for Social
Workers, Economics and Politics for Social Workers, Working with Communities, and Fields
of Social Work III: Community Development.
I acted as one of the members of successive MSW curriculum revision committees in
the department of social work, MZU in 2007, 2010, 2012(CBCS with CAGP), and 2015
(CBCS with CAGP under UGC regulations).
As part of the First revision committee, I prepared the draft syllabus of courses of
Social Economic and Political Environment, Social Work Research, Social Policy and
Planning, Rural and Urban Development, and Tribal Development.
In the second revision committee, I revised the courses on Social Economic and
Political Environment, Working with Communities, Social Work Research, Social Policy and
Planning, Rural Development, Urban Development, Social Development and Tribal
Development.
During the third revision exercise the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) with
Continuous Assessment and Grade Point (CAGP) was introduced and I revised the courses
viz., Foundation of Social Work, Social Work Research, Rural Development, Urban
Development, Social Development, and Tribal Development. I have prepared the drafts of
two new open elective courses viz., Statistics for Social Sciences, and Computer Aided
Quantitative Data Analysis.
I was also part of M.Phil/PhD curriculum formulation and revision exercises. I have
prepared the draft syllabus of Advanced Social Work Research course for M.Phil/ Ph.D
course work (social work) and revised the same in 2012. The Board of Studies in Social
Work and School Board in Social Sciences have adopted these courses.
Field Work Supervision and Guidance
I have been involved in the supervision of MSW fieldwork in agency and community
settings. I have supervised the students placed in the agencies of Gilead Special School,
Synod Rescue Home, Ferando Integrated Women Development Centre, Tlangnuam Rural
ICDS project, and Aizawl Urban ICDS Project.
I have organised rural camps in four villages (Muthi 2004, Lungleng 2005, Kelsih
2007, and Lailak 2010). Through this, I could orient the students in compilation of
community profile, assessment of community needs and understanding the scope for social
work intervention in tribal village communities. I could train the students in conduct of social
survey and participatory rural appraisal exercises with groups. They also were trained to
collect process and analyse socio economic data.
I have organised three study tours for MSW students. I have escorted students for
study tour to Chennai and Bangalore in 2005, Guwahati, Gangtak and Tezpur in 2008,
2
Guwahati, Shillong and Tezpur in 2011. I have functioned as the fieldwork coordinator in
the department since August 2008 -2010.
Research Experience and Skills
I worked as a UGC Junior and Senior Research Fellow and pursued Ph.D in the
Department of Economics, Annamalai University for 6 Years (1998–2004). I have been
awarded Ph.D. for my thesis entitled “Human Development and Social Exclusion of
Scheduled Tribes in Tamil Nadu”. During my post graduation, I have submitted a research
project entitled “A Study of Valayar a Denotified Community in the Vicinity of Sirumugai
Town, Coimbatore District”.
Social Work Research is one of my areas of special interest. It ranges from
philosophy of science to technology of research. I am proficient in computer applications in
social statistics especially multivariate statistics. I am capable of using software packages like
Ms-Office, SPSS, STATISTICA and LIMDEP. I am good at managing large-scale survey
databases.
I am also interested in mixing qualitative quantitative and participatory methods in
social work research. I am at present using social network analysis and personal network
analysis in my field of Community Development.
Consultancy and Research Projects
I have offered consultancy service to Centre for Peace and Development (CPD) an
Aizawl based NGO for their research project on HIV/AIDS Communication Needs
Assessment Study sponsored by Mizoram State AIDS Control Society (MSACS).
Completed a research project on “Women’s Vulnerability to HIV/AIDS in Champhai
District’ sponsored by Catholic Relief Service (CRS), Guwahati, as Co-principal Investigator
in with Dr.Kalpana Sarathy (Principal Investigator), Associate Professor, Department of
Social Work, Mizoram University.
I have completed a UGC major research project on “Bamboo Flowering and Rural
Livelihood in Mizoram” as a Principal Investigator in 2013.
I have completed a consultancy project with Centre for urban policy and planning,
School of Habitat Studies “Infrastructure and Governance Transformation of IHSDP in
Lunglei Town” as part of their ICSSR sponsored mega project entitled Impact of
Infrastructure and Governance Transformations on Small, Medium and Big Cities in India.
Research Guidance and Supervision
I have guided 4 Ph.D scholars, 12 M. Phil scholars and 30 MSW Dissertations in the area
of Community Development (Rural, Urban and Tribal). At present, I am supervising 5 Ph.D
