symposium on global health is designed for, faculty, administrators,
trainees, and students – especially physicians, scientists, allied
health care professionals, public health professionals, nurses,
employees of non-governmental organizations, non-profit
foundations, grant organizations and others who are interested
in learning about, championing, partnering, and advocating for
the development of global health from an academic and service
perspective.

PURPOSE AND CONTENT
We rely on your comments and recommendations to improve
our future conferences. Please take a moment to complete the
evaluations and outcomes provided with your program and
return them to the Registration Desk.
The purpose of this symposium is to:
• Highlight the current state of education and
research activity in global health and related
disciplines
• Identify research of global activity in health and
related disciplines
• Present student service learning programs in
global health
• Encourage course and curriculum development
on global health
• Raise the development of enduring partnerships
among participating institutions
• Discover potential funding opportunities under
the US Global Health Initiative and other relevant
funding sources
• Create a forum for interdisciplinary interaction and
collaboration in global health
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants should
be able to link educational objectives to Core Competencies
and:
• Describe the current state of education, service
and research activity in global health
• Identify parameters for effective teaching and
learning programs in global health
• Discuss keys to successful academic global partnerships
• Induce health professionals and students to
provide services in global underserved communities
