Ms Helen Smith
Recruitment Consultant
Chemskill Recruitment Division
Level 4, 566 St Kilda Road
Melbourne, Vic., 3004
Dear Ms Smith,
I forward this letter, and attach my resume, as application for the position of Analytical Chemist – Drug Analysis, as
advertised on Seek, with job reference 22755151.
Having graduated from Monash University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science (Honours) I worked
initially as a teaching assistant with the University of Otago, followed by employment with Howlett Research Institute as
a research assistant. In 2013, I commenced a Masters of Pharmaceutical Science with Monash University to extend my
science research capabilities and laboratory techniques.
In both my honours and masters education I gained experience in the use of GC-MS and LC-MS as part of my research.
Additionally, I became competent in solid phase and liquid/liquid extraction techniques and frequently used Agilent
Chemstation and Thermo Xcalibur MS software to maintain and analyse data.
As someone who enjoys collaborating with others I believe I can be a productive team member in this role. My friendly
and easy going disposition has helped me adapt to different situations and build effective working relationships with
others.
My communication skills are well developed and have been demonstrated in the completion of clear and concise report
writing, grant application documentation and research summaries for conferences and seminars. Delivering feedback
as a teaching assistant and in the supervision of students I understand the importance of good listening skills and using
both formal and informal methods to exchange information.
I have a current driving licence and understand the requirement for a police check.
This role especially interests me as it provides the opportunity to work as an analytical chemist in a science field of
particular interest to me and the chance to develop skills using chromatography related instrumentation.
I hope to have the opportunity to discuss my application with you further. Please contact me on M: 0422 786 678 if
you require more information.
Thank you and regards,
Yours sincerely
