Topic: Au Café and Regional Cuisine

Materials needed:
1. Computers with internet access
2. Headphones for each student OR speakers for the classroom
3. Copies of vocabulary sheet
Objectives (Students will):
1. Learn the location of seven different regions in France
2. Learn seven different traditional French dishes and their main ingredients
3. Learn the correct pronunciation and gender of these new words
Resources:
1. Audio file about regions and interactive map (script available as PDF)
2. Audio file about traditional food and interactive map (script available as PDF)
3. Pictures of food and ingredients
4. Vocabulary sheet
5. Two online flashcard sets
6. Listen to an audio file and learn about seven different “plats typiques (or
traditionnels)” in seven different regions in France
Activities:
1. Listen to Café France minicast about the regions: 5-10 minutes
2. Listen to Café France Podcast 1 with pictures of food to aid in filling out
vocabulary sheet (transcript available on demand): 15-25 minutes
3. Online flashcard practice: 15-20 minutes
