New Firmware Fork for Avocent® HMX Receivers
NOTE: This ONLY applies to the Avocent® HMX 1070 user station and the Avocent® HMIQSHDI transmitter.
The recent hardware refresh of the HMX receiver and transmitter hardware introduced some minor firmware
incompatibilities between the older hardware platform (Rev 1) and the newer hardware platform (Rev 2).
NOTE: There are no performance differences between the Rev 1 and Rev 2 HMX receiver hardware builds.
Two different versions of the firmware will be temporarily released to address the unique hardware
requirements of both platforms. Another firmware upgrade is expected in three months that will reunite
both firmwares into one branch.
Until the new firmware is released, all Rev 1 firmware will be versioned as x.0.0.x and Rev 2 firmware will be
marked with x.10.0.x version numbers.
In order to ensure maximum customer satisfaction, customers will be asked to contact Technical Support for
new firmware. Technical Support will help customers identify their hardware and provide them with the
correct firmware.

Firmware older than two years is no longer supported. Technical Support will ask customers with problems
to update to a supported version of the firmware.

The revision firmware version in the Avocent® HMX Manager will correspond to the Rev 1 x.0.0.x and Rev 2
x.10.0.x pattern. In addition, Rev 1 has the FPGA version number 5.x.x.x while Rev 2 has the FPGA version
number 6.x.x.x.
