Inauguration of UW-Stout Chancellor Robert Meyer
April 2, 2015
Remarks by Amerika Vang, SSA President
Thank you Jackie.
I am honored to be here today speaking at the inauguration of Bob Meyer as our
seventh Chancellor. Chancellor Robert Meyer is a great example of an alumni
giving back to our university. Since stepping into office, Chancellor Meyer has
been able to attend student organization events, create his own blog, take selfies
with students, participated in the ALS Ice bucket challenge, hosted many sessions
to discuss the effects of the upcoming biennium budget and much more. He is
truly a great leader that empowers growth.
Shared governance is an important piece of our university. Knowing that
Chancellor Meyer was a former Vice President of Student Activities of the Stout
Student Association in the 1970’s, I know he will continue this tradition for more
years to come.

I am so happy I was able to work with a Chancellor that is selfless, nurtures new
ideas, treasures time with the people he works with, and still have the energy to
read 2001: A Space Odyssey.
I’ll end with this quote. “Chancellor Swanson had the ability to recognize and
praise people, to celebrate their success… If I can emulate Bob Swanson and his
wonderful touch with people in any way, I’ll be very proud of that” from
Chancellor Robert Meyer. I believe you can be proud now Chancellor Meyer for
everything you have done for our University. Thank you for allowing me to work
with you.
