Student Exchange For the 2013 Calendar Year, International Senncesfor Students received 450 applications to participate in the University's bilateral and multilateral exchange programs (an increase of 3% from 437 applications in the 2012 Calendar Year). Of the 450 applications, 41% (184) were incomplete or were not approved (compared with 34% (149) in 2012). International Services for Students selected 59% (266 out of the 450) to participate (compared with 66% (288 out of 437 in 2012). Of the applications selected, 86% (228) resulted in completed exchange terms in 2013 (compared with 79% (228 out of 288 in 2012), and 14% (38) cancelled (compared with 21% (60) in 2012). 9 deferred their exchange terms to 2014. Senate Committee on International Activities 2013 Annual Report 8 The number of applications received that resulted in completed exchange terms in the 2013 Calendar Year was the same as 2012 (228 to 228). In addition, 22 students who were nominated for exchange during the 2012 year (and were already captured in that year's application numbers) continued or deferred their exchange term(s) into 2013 and 3 students completed multiple terms within the 2013 calendar year. Thus, in total, 253 exchange terms were completed in 2013 (an increase of 4% from 243 in 2012). 6. International Co-op Program (information from co-op) In 2012/13, in the International Co-op Program there were 171 work practicums over 28 countries. This is a slight decrease from the previous year's placements (182). A contributing factor for the change is a decrease of placements in India, as SFU funding was more limited for students going to India in 2012/13. 7.
