Systems Management. d. Satisfy National Information Requirements criteria. e. Provide all employees with the necessary systems and processes to effectively and efficiently use information in the accomplishment of their activities. f. Minimize short- and long-term software development costs, capital investments, data collection impacts, and data security risks. Software developments will address long-range, multi-resource needs wherever possible. 6620.4 - Responsibility 6620.43 - Regional Foresters, Station Directors, and the Area Director 2. Staff Directors. a. Supply information about proposed application software as needed to support review of these applications requiring review by the Group Leader for Information Management. b. Approve the development and implementation of applications that are limited to use within the staff unit space allocation, meet National and Regional information management objectives and policies, and use existing data. c. Obtain technical efficiency and security review of their developed or operational systems. Group Leader, Information Management. a. Approves software development technical approval requests within the limitations set forth in FSM 6615. b. Approves technical review of all developed or acquired systems to assure they meet Regional standards. c. Develops and administers Regional software standards. d. Provides technical reviews and serves as technical consultant for all systems that require the approval of the Group Leader of Information Management. e. Assures the completion of technical efficiency and security reviews for other units upon request. f. Conducts management reviews to implement information management principles and policy through systems software management and identify potential changes in systems software policies. g. Designs, develops, or acquires Regional and/or Forest software systems as directed by the Regional Forester. 6620.44 - Information Managers In addition to the duties in the parent text, the Information Managers at each unit are responsible for: 4. Setting up shared access for others when necessary and coordinating that sharing with other Information Managers. 5. Assisting users within their unit with processing questions prior to referring them to other units for additional involvement. 6621.3 - Maintenance and Support 5. Operational databases in the Region will have a database administrator/manager assigned for each database on each host system that supports the database. A database administrator/manager may be assigned to more than one database on a single-host system. 6. Individual users of operational databases are responsible to manage and assure the accuracy of their data in these databases.
