2303 - POLICY
12. The following cautionary statement concerning potable water supplies is for use
when appropriate in brochures, posters, or other recreation literature.
"Only water from systems at recreation sites is maintained safe for human
consumption. Open water sources are easily contaminated by human or
animal waste. Water from springs, lakes, ponds, and streams must not be
drunk or used for food preparation or bathing, without proper treatment.
A recommended method of treatment is to bring clear water to a rolling
boil for a minimum of 5 minutes."
