The following cautionary statement concerning potable water supplies is for use when appropriate in brochures, posters, or other recreation literature. "Only water from systems at recreation sites is maintained safe for human consumption. Open water sources are easily contaminated by human or animal waste. Water from springs, lakes, ponds, and streams must not be drunk or used for food preparation or bathing, without proper treatment. A recommended method of treatment is to bring clear water to a rolling boil for a minimum of 5 minutes." See FSM 7421 for additional instructions and information.
