All audiovisual productions must be evaluated by the Regional Audiovisual Coordinator prior to

1642 - STILL PHOTOGRAPHY
The Audiovisual Specialist in the Public Affairs Office is designated as the Regional
Photographic Coordinator. (See FSM 7140 for R-10 policy covering aerial photography.)
Before approving requests for replacement of equipment, the Regional Photographic Coordinator
will consult with the Regional Property Officer to ensure that all property control procedures for
existing photographic equipment are in order. Forest Supervisors, Deputy Forest Supervisor, or
Staff Directors may designate Photographic Coordinators for their Units to ensure proper
distribution and use of equipment within the Unit.
Purchase of all photographic equipment must be approved.
1. If the photographic equipment is on an existing IRM contract, the Regional
Photographic Coordinator must approve the purchase. Regional approval for photographic
equipment will be based on the following criteria for each major item requested for approval.
a. The equipment must be suitable for doing the needed photographic work of the
requesting office.
b. The equipment must be compatible with regional and national equipment
standards in effect at the time of purchase. For example, standard film formats, such
