Request for Funding for Student Jobs (University Priority),
for funding starting fall 2012
Guidelines:
Funding is available from a central pool to provide funding for undergraduate students to work with UWStout faculty or staff in a “meaningful work experience.” A meaningful work experience is defined as an
applied research or other applied experience where a student(s) helps a faculty/staff member accomplish
their research responsibilities, their teaching responsibilities, or other job responsibilities.
Examples include:
 Students working with faculty and/or staff in motion capture video or other studio arts
laboratories.
 Students working in a UW-Stout Fabrication Lab as technicians, peer mentors and innovation
support.
Applications can be submitted for one student worker for a team of student workers. The following is
required of all proposals:
 Since one of the goals of the initiative is to increase first to second year retention, each proposal
must include at least one first year student.
 The job must include between 25 and 100 hours of work during a semester.
 In order to be paid, the student must submit a report of their accomplishments at the end of each
semester of the program. For team projects, only one report is required.
 Applicants must specify how many semesters they would like to employ the student. The project
must last at least one semester and funding is available for up to 4 semesters.
