Philosophy
The 2+2 is a four-year plan that leads to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy at WIU. Students intending to
complete a baccalaureate degree in Philosophy from WIU should follow the Associate in Arts degree program
outlined in this brochure from Black Hawk College. Students who complete the AA degree at BHC may transfer to
WIU and complete their degree in philosophy in an additional two years.

At least five of the six Philosophy elective courses (15 hours) must be upper division.
The WIU philosophy degree requires a minor in an area of the student’s choice, requiring 16-20
hours.
At least 60 hours must be from a four year institution, with 42 hours of upper division courses.
There is a Foreign Language/Global Issues course requirement.
