Awards are determined in accordance with the USDA Guide for Employee Recognition. The goal of this policy is to ensure that all employees are aware of the various options for recognizing employee achievements and show transparency in the awards process. Monetary awards, excluding the amount, will be posted on the Forest web page by the webmaster within 15 days after notification from recommending supervisor. The supervisor shall give the employee’s name and summary for award to the webmaster within 30 days of the award being given. Other significant awards such as: non-monetary, length of service and regional awards may also be posted on the Forest web page. Generally, award summaries will be posted on the fsweb for four months. This policy will be reviewed by the Monongahela Partnership Council (MPC) to determine if mutual agreement still exists. Upon review, sections of the policy that the parties agree upon will be extended. Sections that are disagreed upon will expire as stated above. 35.1 – Publicity When employees receive awards, supervisors may use one of the following options to share their success and achievements with the rest of the Forest. Safety Meetings – At each unit’s monthly safety meeting to recognize employee awards, accomplishments, retirements, etc. All Employee Days – When appropriate, these events may be the proper venue for employee recognition. Newsletters – When appropriate, provide articles in the Monongahela Messenger or regional and national newsletters. In addition to the types of formal and informal recognitions mentioned above, all employees are encouraged to recognize the contributions of others by: Saying thanks whenever another person does something that contributes to their project or makes their life more pleasant. Commenting positively to them and to their supervisors while they are making progress toward completing a project. When you see an employee’s work or involvement is worthy of recognition, share that with their supervisor for possible recognition.
