This position plays a key role in maintaining and further developing SFU’s Online Learning Community. Duties/Responsibilities: Analyze audiences (SFU students, Co-op staff, employers, etc) and their information and functional needs Define site architecture and navigation upon which all other aspects are built Create wireframes, site maps, schematics, process maps, feature lists, mockups, visual specification, working prototypes and other artifacts to describe the intended user experience Liaise with Co-op staff and students at the design stage Produce a design that will be attractive to the target user and has a logical navigation system and all the features required Write web pages in a combination of codes, such as HTML, Javascript, Actionscript, ColdFusion, Java, Perl and Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver Decide how images and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web Ensure that material on the web site is accessible to all groups Testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions Coordinate events, including registration management, student questions, and room and equipment booking Assist the International Co-op office in planning events occurring through the semester Requirements/Qualifications: Knowledge of user interface design processes and methodology Working knowledge of User Centered Design Principles and Practices Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal Knowledge of architecture-related software (Illustrator, Visio, Photoshop, SQL Server, MS Office, Acrobat, Dreamweaver) Preference will be give to students with a background or interest in international work or studies HTML / Dreamweaver / Flash (general web development skills) Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, or other layout applications Proficient writing ability Good leadership and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented Organization, creativity, and ability to work quickly and within deadlines Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
