TITLE: Peptoid Compositions and Methods for Using the Same to Treat or Prevent Alzheimer's Disease INVENTORS: Ilya Bezprozvanny TECHNOLOGY: Biologicals UTSD: 2401 SUMMARY: The invention relates to the use of peptoid compounds that selectively bind Aβ 42. Such peptoids may be useful for the treatment and prevention of neurodegenerative diseases, for treating memory deficiency in patients suffering from dementia, and as tools for drug discovery in Alzheimer’s Disease. Most drug candidates that are currently in human clinical trials are Aβ 42 ligands or are anti-Aβ 42 antibodies that inhibit Aβ 42 oligomerization. Methods for using peptoid compounds for treatment and prevention of symptoms of Alzheimer's disease provide advantages over such strategies.
