Course Description: This course is designed so building contractors will understand the energy code and its application in the design of their structures.
Course Instructor: Richard Greene, Director of Code Enforcement Services for W-M Engineers, P.E.

8:30am—Introduction to the Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York - Chapters 1 ("Administrative, Enforcement and General
Requirements"), 2 ("Definitions"), & 3 ("Design Conditions") in Classroom 140, Baker Hall
9:00am-Use the Code to learn about "Building Design for all Commercial Buildings" and ASHRAE 90.1-1999 (Chapter 7) - Classroom 140, Baker Hall
10:00am—Break in Baker Foyer
10:15am—Use the Code to learn about "Design by Acceptable Practice for Commercial Buildings" in Classroom 140, Baker Hall
12:00pm—Lunch in 110 Moon Library
1:00pm—Use the code to learn how to use the Performance Approach (Chapter 5) and Prescriptive Approach (Chapter 6) to build energy efficient
residential structures - in Classroom 140, Baker Hall
2:00pm-Practice a hands-on software approach to build an energy efficient structure using REScheck (residential structures) and COMcheck
(commercial structures) - in Classroom 149, Baker Hall
3:00pm—Break in Baker Foyer
3:15pm—Continue to practice using a software approach to build an energy efficient structure in a computer cluster using COMcheck (commercial
structures) in room 149, Baker Hall
5:00pm—Adjourn
