GIS is no longer limited to GIS specialists. Working professionals in many disciplines are now adopting geographic information systems (GIS) to work with information which has geographic components. Get ready to put this new technology to work for you with Introduction to ArcView ® 8. This twoday course provides participants with the hands-on experience you'll need to start using ArcView's many powerful functions and capabilities.

Course Description: This two-day course is the fast track to learning to use ArcView 8 software. After receiving a conceptual overview and hands-on experience using ArcView 8, you'll be able to quickly take advantage of ArcView's powerful display and analysis capabilities.

You'll use ArcView 8 to create, edit, display, query, and analyze geographic and tabular data, and to create presentation maps and charts.

Who Should Attend: This program is designed for planners, engineers, natural resource managers, landscape architects, social scientists, emergency management personnel, transportation professionals, marketing specialists, economic development staff, and others working with geographic information.

Instructors: Nicholas Colas has over twenty years of experience in the use of geographic information systems. He uses

ArcView extensively in his work for the Cayuga County Planning Department and as a private consultant. Nick has been successful in teaching ArcView to students at SUNY-ESF since 1995. Matthew Starr uses ArcView in a variety of applications as a Senior GIS Analyst for the Cayuga County Department of Information Technologies.
