Please keep this informational page for your reference.
Western Illinois University’s Dual Admission Program is intended for students who are:
•
beginning their community college career;
•
attending a community college that participates in Western Illinois University’s dual admission program;
•
willing to grant permission for their community college to send transcripts to WIU;
•
planning to earn an Associate of Arts and/or Science degree from their participating community college ( not an Associate of Applied Science
•
planning to earn their Bachelor’s degree from WIU.
)
All prospective transfer students may consult the Western Illinois University Transfer Articulation
Handbook at http://www.student.services.wiu.edu/admissions/info/transfer/CCHS/artind.asp
or their community college adviser to determine equivalent courses between their community college and required WIU courses.
Upon completion of each semester in community college, dual admission students will receive an evaluation from Western of their community college coursework. This evaluation informs students on how their courses transfer or articulate to WIU. Dually admitted students that declare a WIU major will additionally benefit by receiving a WARD report (Western’s Audit of
Degree Requirements). This report informs students of Western’s requirements for their intended academic major.
TEACHER EDUCATION MAJORS
Prospective transfer students pursuing the teacher education major should contact their program’s advising center at Western Illinois University for current requirements. Western
Illinois University must meet the mandates issued by the Illinois State Board of Education and the State Certification Board. State Certification Board requirements take precedence over the catalog of record for individuals seeking teacher certification recommendation. Dual Admission will not guarantee graduation in 4 more semesters.
MUSIC MAJORS
Prospective transfer students pursuing a music major should contact the music department at
Western Illinois University for course requirements. All students entering the music program at
Western Illinois University must pass entrance performance auditions and placement examinations.
PLEASE REMEMBER… to submit official transcripts from ALL other colleges/universities you attend besides your dual admission community college. Without these additional transcripts, we will be unable to process your dual application.
