Petition for Candidacy
Eligibility for Elected Office
Candidates must meet the following requirements for eligibility for office:
 Must be a WIU-QC Student body member in good standing (G.P.A. of at least 2.5).
 Must be enrolled in at least six semester hours of classes.
 Must present to the Election Board a nominating petition of twenty-five eligible voters.
 Must run for only one office.
 Can not occupy an executive board position or its equivalent in any University organization in
the next year.
Executive Board-Elected Officers
The Executive Board shall include the President, Vice President, Chief of Staff, Attorney
General, and Comptroller.
Student Activity Fund/Student Welfare Council-Elected Members
Two (2) student representatives for Students-at-Large on the council.
Eligibility for Appointed Office
Part 1 Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following requirements for eligibility for office:
 Must be a WIU-QC Student body member in good standing (G.P.A. of at least 2.5).
 Must present to the Election Board a nominating petition of twenty-five eligible voters.
 Must run for only one office.
 Cannot occupy an executive board position or its equivalent in any University organization in
the next year.
Part 2 - Seating of Senators
Must present to the Executive Board a petition of twenty-five members of WIU-QC Student
Body and a written statement of goals and philosophies. The Executive Board will approve or
disapprove.
Senate-Appointed Officers
One(1) Graduate Senator, one(1) undergraduate Senator from the Colleges of Education,
Business and Technology; a Board of Governors Senator, and three (3) Senators at large. In the
event that a college Senator seat is not filled, the President can appoint an at large Senator to fill
that seat until the position can be filled by that college.
