FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF SÃO CARLOS – Sorocaba Campus Graduate program in Production Engineering – PPGEP-S Academic Master's Course CALL FOR PROPOSALS No. 003/2015/PPGEP-S PNPD-CAPES POST-DOCTORATE RESEARCH GRANT AT THE GRADUATE PROGRAM IN PRODUCTION ENGENEERING – SOROCABA The Coordination of the Graduate Program in Production Engineering - Sorocaba (PPGEP-S) makes public the opening of applications and sets out the rules for selecting one (01) doctor to act as a PNPD-CAPES grantee at the Graduate Program in Production Engineering on the Sorocaba Campus of the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar). 1. On the Regulation 1.1 The selection of applicants for the grant from the National Postdoctoral Program PNPD/CAPES is guided by the provisions of the CAPES Ordinance No. 086, from July 3, 2013, available at http://www.capes.gov.br/images/stories/download/legislacao/Portaria_86_2013_Regulamento_PNP D.pdf. 2. On the Objective 2.1 To select a researcher to carry out high-level study as part of the Graduate Program in Production Engineering - Sorocaba (PPGEP-S). 3. On the Duration and amount of the grant 3.1 One (01) grant will be offered in the monthly amount of R$ 4,100.00 (four thousand one hundred reals) with implementation scheduled for March 2016. 3.2 The term is twelve (12) months with the possibility of renewal. 3.3 Costs related to the displacement and settling of the applicant approved in Brazil are the responsibility of the selected applicant. 3.4 The successful applicant must obtain a Temporary Visa I (researcher) to travel to Brazil and cover all the costs involved in this process. 3.4.1 The PPGEP-S together with the Office of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research at UFSCar and CAPES shall issue the invitation letter required to obtain the Temporary Visa I (Researcher). 3.5 In order to receive the grant, the student must open a current account and obtain his/her CPF, covering all costs involved in the process. 3.6 If it is the applicant's interest, he/she may contract a private health insurance plan with his/her own funds, at no cost to UFSCar. 4. On the Modalities and requirements 4.1 The applicant must sign up for one of the following modalities: a) Be Brazilian or a foreign resident in Brazil holding a temporary visa with no employment relationship (Modality A); b) Be a foreigner residing abroad, with no employment relationship (Modality B); c) Be a lecturer or researcher in Brazil under an employment contract in higher education institutions or public research institutions (Modality C). §1º The applicant must hold the title of doctor upon registration. §2º The foreign applicant residing abroad must present proof of address abroad upon the submission of the application. §3º Substitute teachers in federal education institutions may be approved in modality "a", without loss to their teaching activities, after review and approval by the Graduate Program. §4 Applicants approved in modality "c" must attest their grant of leave from their home institution for a period compatible with the duration of the grant. §5 Successful applicants in modality "c" must not perform the post-doctoral training at the same institution with which they have an employment relationship. §6 Foreign applicants must be in a regular situation in the country at the time of implementation of the grant. §7 If Brazilian, applicants must be up to date with their electoral obligations. §8 Applicants must not be retired or be in a similar position to retirement. 5. On the areas of interest of the PPGEP-S in relation to the grantee 5.1 The vacancy available to be filled by this call for proposals refers to the area of research "Operations Management". 6. On the activities to be carried out by the grantee 6.1 The selected applicant shall work independently and be supervised by a lecturer from the PPGEPS. 6.2 The activities to be carried out by the grantee are as follows: a) carry out original research on one of the areas of interest pointed by the PPGEP-S and described in item 5 of this Call; b) offer three activities (talks and/or seminar studies) per year, in which they shall present the development status of their research; c) publish or submit scientific papers co-authored with a lecturer from the PPGEP-S in journals with JCR impact factor, from the field of Engineering III, resulting from research conducted during the period of the grant; d) present a partial report of activities after 6 months and a final report after 12 months. e) participate in qualifying and defense examinations according with the demand by PPGEPS. 7. On the advisor's duties regarding the activities carried out by the grantee 7.1 The grantee shall be supervised by a lecturer from the PPGEP-S, who shall have the following duties: a) to monitor all the activities carried out by the grantee; b) to assist the grantee in any possible way towards the achievement of the research; c) to report to the Board of PPGEP-S, every four months, from the start of the grant, the evaluation of the progress of activities by the grantee and even, if it is the case, pursuant to Art. 17 of the Ordinance no. 086, from July 3, 2013, at any time, request the cancellation of the grant and replacement of the grantee in the event of underperformance, withdrawal, abandonment, interruption or completion of the term of the grant or project. 7.2 The supervisor must be a permanent faculty lecturer at PPGEP-S. 8. On the applications 8.1 Applications must be submitted exclusively online between 15/09/2015 and 11/15/2015 (until 23:59 GMT). 8.2 Applicants shall receive a message confirming receipt of application. UFSCar is not responsible for messages not received due to any technical issues related to the applicant's e-mail, such as full inbox, anti-spam programs or server down. 8.3 Applicants shall submit all the documentation according to item 11.8 of this Call, in PDF format, limited to 1MB (one megabyte) to the email address ppgeps@ufscar.br, under the subject "Application for Call 003-2015 PNPD" 8.4 The Graduate Program in Production Engineering - Sorocaba is not responsible for any problems resulting from the sending of documentation via the Internet, regardless of the cause. 8.5 The completion of application will only be made upon receipt of the documentation required for the application within the period of time referred to in this call. 8.6 Applicants assume full responsibility for the submission of the documents. The PPGEPS is not responsible for problems resulting from the sending of documentation via the Internet, regardless of the cause. 8.7 The application shall only be effective when the documentation required is presented in one go. Should more than one application be submitted, the last one shall be considered. 8.8 Applications in person shall not be accepted. 8.9 Failure to meet any of the requirements of this Call will preclude the continuity of the applicant's participation in the selection process. 8:10 By formalizing their application the applicant tacitly expresses full knowledge and compliance with all rules and conditions set out herein. 8:11 Applications shall be made upon delivery of the documentation listed below: a) Completed application form (Annex I of this Call); b) Copy of doctoral diploma or certificate of course completion issued by an institution evaluated by CAPES, with courses recognized by the CNE/MEC. Qualifications obtained abroad shall be analyzed by the Graduate Program; c) Curriculum Vitae in the Lattes format with documented proofs for Brazilian researchers or in the format specified by the CAPES Ordinance No. 086, July 3, 2013, with documented proofs for foreigners. d) Certified copy of RG or RNE (Registro Nacional de Estrangeiro) or temporary visa or passport; e) Work Plan to be carried out during the post-doctoral stage, prepared in accordance with paragraph 6; f) Foreign applicants residing abroad must attach proof of residence abroad. 8.12 Only applications that meet the rules and conditions set herein with complete documentation shall be accepted. 9. On the selection criteria: 9.1 Applicants shall be selected as follows: Curriculum Vitae analysis with emphasis on publications in high impact factor journals and interview about the work plan. 9.2 Upon application, applicants must check in Annex I - Application Form, item IV - their preferred interview option, whether in person (mandatory for applicants residing in Sorocaba-SP) or online (via Skype video call). Should the online interview be opted for, applicants must provide their Skype contact names in the box reserved. 9.3 By choosing the in person interview option, the applicant must be present at the interview location on the day and time indicated on the interview schedule, which shall be published within the time specified in the Schedule (item 12 of this Call). 9.4 By opting for online interview (via Skype video call), the applicant must connect to Skype on the day and time indicated on the interview schedule and use the contact name provided in the interview schedule. 9.5 Online interviews without video shall not be carried out. 9.6 Applicants are responsible for establishing their connection. Any connection difficulties shall also be their responsibility. 9.7 Interviews (in person and online) shall take a maximum of 30 (thirty) minutes. 10. On the Final Result 10.1 Successful applicants shall be sorted in descending order of the final score, and the first place shall be awarded the grant from the National Postdoctoral Program - PNPD / CAPES. 10.2 In the event of a tie, the applicant who obtained his/her doctorate degree first shall be admitted; and if the tie still persists, the older applicant shall be admitted. 10.3 The final result shall be published on the Department bulletin board or on the PPGEP-S web page (www.ppgeps.ufscar.br), as set out in the schedule (item 12). 10.4 The results will be submitted for approval by the Coordination of the Graduate Program in Production Engineering - Sorocaba (CPGEP-S). 11. On the submission of documents for implementing the grant 11.1 The successful applicant approved in first place must submit, under disqualification penalty, up to ten (10) days after the announcement of the final result an e-mail to ppgeps@ufscar.br confirming their intention of enrollment in order to be eligible for the implementation of the grant. 12.2 In the event of withdrawal or disqualification of the applicant approved in the first place, the applicant ranked second shall be called up for enrollment. 11.3 The applicant must enroll upon arranging an appointment through the email ppgeps@ufscar.br, in the Graduate Program in Production Engineering's Office, Sorocaba Campus, within the time specified in the Schedule (Item 12 of this Call) and bring the necessary documentation for the implementation of the grant, according to Annex II. Suspension and cancellation of the grant 13.1 The criteria for suspension of the grant are described in Art. 15 of the CAPES Ordinance No. 086, July 3, 2013. 14. Final dispositions 14.1 The PPGEP-S reserves the right to, at any given time, require applicants to prove the veracity of their statements or information provided in the selection process. 14.2 By submitting an application for the selection process, the applicant acknowledges and accepts the rules set forth in this Call and Ordinance no. 086 of July 3, 2013 / CAPES. 14.3 Omissions shall be resolved by the CPGEP-S.
