
Welcome Brittany!
We have a new member of our Tech Team, Brittany Melpolder. Her major is Special
Education, Learning Disabilities!

Final Check of 220 Orientation Booklet
In our 220 Orientation Booklet, we have the checklist for what will be taught, the
slides from the Powerpoint that will be used, the procedure for students who do not
attend the Chalk & Wire training sessions, and the script for disrespectful students.
We will add the schedule of training sessions and have the booklet ready for our
January meeting.

Interviews of Faculty
Some things that are going well are:
-Students are more willing to work with Chalk and Wire
-Many professors are very happy with the 220 sessions.
-Students’ abilities with Chalk and Wire are increasing and the problems are
decreasing.
Some things that need work:
-Emphasize uploading a document and then submitting it or sharing it.
-Students in ED 225 do NOT need to have borders in their word documents; it is
taking up too much room.
-Some students in ED 225 are having trouble uploading their collections of
experiences (for Kim Kotkowicz)
-In the 220 sessions, many of the submissions were not going through.
Field Placement Evaluations:
-Professors think it is a wonderful idea, but there are many kinks we would have to
work through in order to make it work. For instance, many mentor teachers fax or
send in their evaluations after the semester is over, so it would be hard for those
students to upload their evaluations onto Chalk and Wire.

C&W E-mail Account
We want to use the Chalk and Wire e-mail account to create our own Chalk and Wire
account, so that the Tech Team will be able to play around on that account without
making portfolios on our own individual accounts. It would be beneficial because we
could also use this for many years.

Next Semester’s Meeting Night and Time
Tentative meeting day and time is Tuesday nights at 7:30p.m.

Next Semester’s Class Assignments
We went through our class schedules for next year, and we paired each member of the
Tech Team with at least one class. When we find new members for the Tech Team
we

Follow Up Professional Development
Stephanie Pasek met with Baars Bultman and Yooyeun Hwang as a follow up for
Professional Development, since they were not able to come to the first meeting
earlier in the semester. John Yelding and Richard Mezeske still have not had the
opportunity to come to any session.

360 Skeleton
Stephanie Pasek met with Laura Pardo to make a 360 Skeleton. Laura wants students
to make a skeleton for this class, and she will be talking to Linda Jordan to get ideas
for the skeleton. She will be giving the students the whole semester to work on it.

Portfolio Prep in Seminar
During the first five weeks of seminar for student teachers, we want to have a
Portfolio Prep session to give students ideas on how they will want to create their
Student Teaching Portfolios. This will take place February 9th from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m
in Van Zoeren 152. We will be making a Power Point of tips of how to make a
portfolio. We will make an example of a good portfolio and an example of a bad
portfolio and we will be presenting both. Also, for assessing the student portfolios,
Nancy Cook wants to make a checklist so it is more objective, so no one will feel
badly for grading down on another person’s profile. She also would like the members
of the Tech Team to read through the Portfolio Process and make any changes and
submit them to her. In addition, we are in the process of making a portfolio team,
who will make portfolios for the seminar presentation, and also who will make the
power point presentation for the seminar.

Suggestions for New Members?
We are trying to think of new additions for our Tech Team! 

When is everyone student teaching?
Ben Herrman, Katie Oxendine, Jason Folkert, and Stephanie Pasek are student
teaching in the spring of 2009.
Tara Hamming and Andrea Eddy are student teaching in the spring of 2010.
Peter Folkert, Brittany Melpolder, and Alissa Gigler are teaching in the Fall 2010.

Moodle Students in 225
We would like all the 225 students this semester are going to be putting the
recommendations from their field placements onto Moodle. This is so future student
with the same field placement are able to see what past students had to say about
certain placements.
This concludes our meeting.
Our last meeting of the semester will be Wednesday, December 3, at 8:30 p.m. at Susan
Cherup’s house!
