Cyclades™ TS100 Appliances Release Notes Version 3.0.0-3 October 13th, 2010 This document outlines: 1. Update Instructions 2. Appliance Firmware Version Information 3. Enhancements 4. Fixes 5. Known Issues 6. Change Log ============================================================================= Update Instructions ============================================================================= Please refer to your Installation, Configuration and User manual for detailed instructions to update the Cyclades™ terminal server (“TS100”) appliance to version 3.0.0-3. Cyclades TS100 appliance version 3.0.0-3 provides an internal mechanism which preserves existing configuration when upgrading from firmware versions 3.0.0-1 and later. However, it is strongly recommended that you back-up system configuration before the firmware version is upgraded. ============================================================================= Appliance Firmware Version Information ============================================================================= Appliance/Product Firmware Type Version Filename Part Number Cyclades TS100 Appliance V_3.0.0-3 FL0565-002.bin FL0565-002.bin.md5 FL0565-002 ============================================================================= Enhancements ============================================================================= This release contains the following enhancements: 1. Integration of the Cyclades TS Appliance into DSView™ 3 Management Software The Cyclades TS100 appliance is integrated into DSView 3 management software using the Cyclades TS Plug-in version 1.0.0. This allows access, configuration and management of Cyclades TS100 Console Server from DSView 3 management software. Cyclades TS100 appliance firmware version 3.0.0 or later is required as well as Cyclades TS Plug-in version 1.0.0 for DSView 3 version 3.3 or later software to manage Cyclades TS100 appliances. Please refer to your DSView 3 management software version 3.3 or later and Cyclades TS Plug-in version 1.0.0 manual and release notes for detailed configuration instructions. 2. Support for Centralized Authentication Added support for Centralized Authentication through DSView 3 management software. This is in addition to the existing authentication types supported in the Cyclades TS100 appliance. The three new authentication types added into the Cyclades TS100 appliance are DSView, DSView/Local or DSViewDownLocal. To enable centralized authentication, any of the three DSView 3 authentication types should be selected. When one of these three (3) authentication types is selected, the Authentication Service configured in DSView 3 management software is used to authenticate users accessing Cyclades TS100 appliance. DSView/Local type is selected by default for centralized authentication. 3. Support for Centralized Data Logging Added support for Centralized Data logging through DSView 3 management software. This is in addition to the data logging functionality in the Cyclades TS100 appliance. Only one of the data logging types can be enabled, either centralized data logging in DSView 3 management software or data logging in the Cyclades TS100 appliance. DSView 3 management software supports data logging of serial sessions or direct SSH/Telnet sessions to the appliance. 4. Firmware Management Added support for scheduling of firmware uploads to the Cyclades TS100 appliances and the Cyclades Intelligent Power Distribution Unit (IPDU) from DSView 3 management software. 5. Topology Synchronization Added support for pull and push of topology from DSView 3 management software and/or the Cyclades TS100 appliance. 7. Save and Restore of Cyclades TS100 configuration The Cyclades TS100 appliance configuration can be saved and restored from DSView 3 management software. 8. New Syslog Message Format and New Messages Added new format for the syslog messages plus added new syslog messages. 9. OpenSSH upgrade Upgraded the package from 3.8.1p1 version to 4.3.p1 version. 10. BusyBox upgrade Upgrade the package from 0.60.5 version to 1.00 version. The tinylogin package was removed and its commands were changed by the BusyBox commands. The dhcpcd daemon was replaced with udhcpcd daemon. 11. Binaries removed from the firmware The following binaries were removed from the firmware: arp, chroot, dc, erase, free, groups, halt, head, logname, makedevs, nohup, pftp, pidof, poweroff, rarp, renice, rmdir, tail, tee, top, uniq, users, wall, xargs, yes. The ftp command was removed: the client can use the ftpput and the ftpget commands instead of the ftp command. ============================================================================= Fixes ============================================================================= This release contains following the following fixes. 1. The serial port statistics show transmitted bytes in the serial port. 2. Serial port was locking when data logging was configured. 3. The multiple session menu was shown when the multiple_sessions parameters were configured as “RW_sessions” or as “sniff_session”. 4. The Power Management Menu in the CAS session did not work when the server has two or more outlets. 5. TacacsPlusDownLocal authentication did not fall back to local authentication when the TacacsPlus server was down and the default gateway could be reached. 6. The pmCommand utility did not accept the PM command currseg. 7. The SNMP daemon was addeing one blank character in the OID cySPortName. 8. After one reconfiguration of the NFS data buffering in the PortSlave configuration, the previous NFS directory did not unmount. 9. The cron daemon stored the jobs log into /var/cron/log file. Now the cron daemon is sending syslog messages with the jobs log. ============================================================================= Known Issues ============================================================================= This release contains following known issues. To manage the Cyclades TS100 appliance from DSView 3 management software version 3.3 or later, Cyclades TS100 firmware version 3.0.0 or later is required. 2. Target names cannot have spaces or tilde („~‟). If a target name has spaces or tilde, the pushName operation will fail. 3. Cyclades TS eth0 IP should be used in the Add Appliance Wizard. If sub-interface IPs are used, data logging and syslog event notification will not work. 4. For communication with DSView 3 management software, the Cyclades TS100 appliance v3.0.0 or later, will during its first boot, create a default “admin” user with a random password. The Admin user is only created if one does not exist from previous versions of the firmware; DSView 3 management software uses “admin” user for communication with the Cyclades TS100 appliance. Login as root user and re-assign the password as per your requirements for the “admin” user. 1. ============================================================================= Change Log ============================================================================= Following changes were made to the files in this release. 1.
