Dear Teacher Education Program Year Applicant:
This letter contains information about the forms needed to apply to the Professional Year of the Teacher
Education and Licensure Program at UCCS as an undergraduate or postbac student. Our process is very
thorough and admission to the program is competitive. Our goal is to recruit the very best people to teach
children and youth.
Applications Begin Review Process—October 1
Summer Application Deadline—February 1
A variety of paperwork is required which includes: transcripts, references, a statement of career goals, and
other materials outlined in this letter. Read all materials carefully regarding the program and the application
process.
TELP Requirements
Contact the College of Education Student Resource Office to set up an appointment with an advisor. At this
meeting, the advisor will review your coursework. It is essential to bring official or unofficial transcripts to
this meeting. At this advising session you will be informed about any additional courses you will need to
take.
Application for TELP
Fill out and submit a College of Education Application Form, available on the website. There is a $50.00
non-refundable TELP Application Fee. This fee is to be paid at the Cashier’s Window (Main Hall 2nd Floor).
A copy of the receipt is required for your TELP file. The fee must be paid at the time that the application is
submitted. When the College of Education receives your application and fee, the application process
begins. You will be notified periodically of the status of your file. However, it is your responsibility to check
on the status of your file as items are received.
Transcripts
One official set of each transcript must be sent to UCCS College of Education. To help avoid confusion on
transcripts, please indicate all the last names you have ever used when filling out your application.
TELP Advising Form
This is the form which was reviewed during your advising appointment to determine the requirements you
still need to complete. You should make a copy of the advising form for your records before turning the
original in to the College of Education.
Career Goals Statement
The Guidelines for writing the goal statement are linked on the website under downloads and forms.
Confidential Reference Forms
Distribute at least three reference forms to those who are familiar with your academic work and your
experience with children/youth. Specifically, references from people who have observed your association
with young people in a school setting are most highly valued. These reference forms should be returned
directly to the College of Education Student Resource Office.

Interview
You will be scheduled for an interview and notified of the date and time. When arranging your interview
time, we will make every effort to avoid conflicts in your schedule. Failure to appear for your scheduled
interview will delay the application process.
The College of Education will notify you of the decision on your application by letter. If you are accepted,
you will be required to complete, sign, and return the Oath and Consent Form and return it to the COE
Student Resource Office.
If you are not accepted, you may make an appointment with the Director to review the reason for nonacceptance and possible ways to strengthen your application if you choose to reapply.
