Operation
In certain locations, legal regulations may require turbine noise
emissions to be below a certain decibel limit, depending on:
the day of the week
the time of day
dB
the wind speed and direction
Stopping the wind turbine in order to comply with local acoustic emission
regulations is not optimal for production.
This is why Siemens developed
Noise Restricted Operation
At noise sensitive sites, the functionality allows turbines to switch from
normal operation to noise restricted operation as necessary.

shutdown of the
wind turbine
complying with local
regulations
curtailing noise
emissions
Thereby optimizing the maximum power output to noise
emission ­trade-off for greater harmony between the wind park
and the surrounding communities.
