University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) General Education Transfer Guide for students planning to transfer from the California Community College (CCC) system Overview UCCS will accept the IGETC General Education pattern in partial fulfillment of UCCS general education requirements. Exceptions are listed below. The general education requirements are applicable only to selected major areas (listed below) in the UCCS College of Letters, Arts & Sciences. Exceptions to acceptance of IGETC pattern IGETC Area 1C: Students must complete a public speaking course to fulfill this GE category. IGETC Area 2: Both a standard math and a statistics or logic course are required for this GE category. IGETC Area 3: Foreign language courses are not accepted for this GE category. IGETC Area 4: History courses are not accepted for this GE category. An additional 3 unit course in this area is required to fulfill this GE category. IGETC Area 5: An additional 3-5 units of coursework in this area is required to fulfill this GE category (12 units total) IGETC Area 6: Either two years of high school or two semesters of college coursework in this area is required to fulfill this GE category. Applicable Majors (all applicable degree programs are Bachelors of Arts degrees): Anthropology Communication Economics English Geography & Environmental Studies History Mathematics Philosophy Political Science Psychology Sociology Spanish Visual & Performing Arts (Art History, Film Studies, Music, Theatre, and Visual Art options) Women’s & Ethnic Studies Minimum Transfer Admission Criteria: 1. Complete a minimum of 15 transferrable semester units 2. Achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.4 or better, including all remedial and repeated course work. Courses must have a C- or better grade in order to transfer to UCCS. PLEASE NOTE: Students do not need to complete the IGETC program in order to apply to UCCS. Notes: 1. UCCS does not currently accept ACE transcript credit 2. UCCS does not accept DANTES credit 3. UCCS does not follow IGETC guidelines for acceptance of AP or IB test scores.
