Description:
National Board Certification Revised Process Field Test – Components 2, 3, and/or 4
Graduate credits are awarded to field test participants who complete and submit the e‐portfolio to NBPTS for Components 2, 3,
and/or 4 of the NBPTS Field Test for the Revised National Board Certification Process. Participants demonstrate completion by
submitting to the UCCS instructor two items: 1. A brief reflective essay (see assignment described in this course syllabus) and 2. A
confirmation page from NBPTS that verifies Component 2, 3, and/or 4 e‐portfolio was successfully uploaded to NBPTS. Participants
demonstrate a commitment to students’ learning by completing the field test which is an opportunity for professional learning,
leadership and reflection on teaching practices.
Required: Participants will demonstrate completion by submitting to the UCCS instructor a brief reflective essay (see assignment
described in this course syllabus) and the NBPTS confirmation page that verifies the e‐portfolio was uploaded to NBPTS successfully.
Outcomes:
 To identify the impact of the field test and what was learned through the experience that enhances student learning and a
teacher’s practice, leadership and professional learning.

To strengthen understanding of and preparation for completing Component 2, 3, and/or 4 as a future candidate or as a
candidate support provider.

Participants will reflect and discuss in writing individual impressions of the field test experience
and its impact on teaching and student learning.

 Double spacing, 10 point Arial font, 1 inch margins
 Follow the guidelines in the Grading Rubric when responding to essay questions below
Essay
As you reflect on the field test experience, please consider one or
more of the following prompts in your response as they apply to you:
1. How do you feel your participation contributed or will
contribute to the teaching profession, your leadership,
professional learning, teaching practice and/or student
learning? What particular parts of Component 2, 3, and/or 4 if
any, impacted the areas you chose to write about?
2. How will the experience benefit you as an official candidate in
the future to complete the actual component or how will the
experience help you, if you are an NBCT, to assist candidates
in their preparation for the actual component?
3. Are there other personal reflections that resulted from your
participation in the field test?

Two Continuing Education Units (CEUs) offered by: UCCS College of Education
CEUs may apply to renewal of a state professional teaching license and/or district salary advancement. One CEU equals
10 contact hours. An official UCCS transcript may be requested after posting of grade by going to ‐

transcript. Select the option for a non‐credit career transcript. Transcripts cost $12 per paper copy and electronic
delivery is not available at this time for non‐credit career transcripts.
