2015 César E. Chávez Leadership Conference Scholarship Award César E. Chávez Leadership Conference Scholarships are in the amount of one thousand dollars ($1,000) per selected student. The César E. Chávez Leadership Scholarships are made possible by contributions from individuals, businesses, organizations, and associations both public and private. The Scholarship Fund is administered by CECLC, Inc., a public, non-­‐profit organization. Eligibility Requirements Applicant must be of Latino ancestry OR from a seasonal farmworker family. Graduating HS Senior Must be from a participating School District or Regional ESD Applicant must plan to enroll as a student at a two or four year public or private, accredited post-­‐
secondary institution in the United States in the Fall (2015). Selection Criteria – The following information will be considered when selecting recipients. Students who demonstrate a commitment to service and helping others in the spirit of César E. Chávez.
Students who demonstrate leadership skills in their schools, community, and/or families.
Students who have overcome significant obstacles and challenges in their lives.
Application Checklist – If you choose to mail your application, it must be mailed to 240 N Broadway, Portland, OR 97227. It must be received by 5:00 p.m. on January 16, 2015. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. ☐ Fill out complete application. Typed application is highly encouraged. ☐ Answers to 4 essay questions (250 words or less for each question). You can write your answers on a separate paper and attach them with the rest of the requirements. ☐ Prepare and attach a resume ☐ Attach an official or unofficial high school transcripts ☐ Attach two recent letters of recommendation. One letter needs to be from a school staff member. Western Oregon University Western Oregon University (WOU)/CECLC Scholarship Information WOU is a partner of CECLC and each year awards scholarships to CECLC students who are admitted to WOU and plan to enroll in the Fall (2015). NOTE: This award is ONLY for WOU.
