Moodle - Embedding a Video in Its Own Player

Moodle has a built in video player called Flowplayer. Anywhere that Moodle's text editor is available, it is possible to embed a video. You can imbed a video in a label, a page, a course topic summary, a quiz description or a lesson. One exception seems to be if the video is an MP4 file.

MP4 files don't seem to play in Flowplayer.

Using the Moodle media icon

1.

In Moodle, turn editing on. Choose

“Add an activity or resource”. C hoose a label, a page, a course topic summary, a quiz description or a lesson.

Click the Moodle media icon.

3.

The “Insert Moodle Media” window will appear.

4.

Click in the “General” box on Find or Upload a sound, video or applet….. then the “File Picker” window will appear.

5.

“Choose File” and then “Upload this file”.

6.

The video appears in the “Insert Moodle Video” window.

7.

Choose “Insert” and the video file name will appear in a blue text link.

8.

Choose “Save and return to course”.

9.

Click on the link and see the video play within the Moodle window.
