Math Department Minutes 5/5/15 The meeting began with a discussion of the proposal to create a new 3000 level course in classical geometry. Currently the department offers Higher Geometry at the 4000/5000 level. As it currently stands, the geometry course has trouble meeting the needs of both UCCS teach students and math graduate students. The new course focuses on undergraduates. A revised graduate course is anticipated in the future. The proposal for Math 3210, the new course in classical geometry, was approved by unanimous vote. The rest of the meeting was devoted to graduate student financial support. A plan of Dean Braza was discussed. The plan will help maintain the current levels of support for master’s level graduate teaching fellows, but we still have significant financial concerns regarding support for PhD level students. The meeting concluded with a brief discussion of possible undergraduate curriculum revisions. 1
