Barnes announces re-election bid for Clark PUD
Nancy Barnes
On Thursday, ancy Barnes announced that she will seek re-election to the Clark Public Utilities
Board of Commissioners. Barnes currently serves as president of the board.
"There are wonderful opportunities and challenges ahead in the utility industry," Barnes said
when making her announcement. "Our utility is community-owned and our customers set our
priorities."
Barnes, a 30-year Clark County resident, said her goals for the coming year include continuing
the utility’s efforts to provide excellent customer service, highly reliable electricity at affordable
prices and a dependable supply of clean, low-cost water for customers served by the utility.
"We also have to continue managing the risks we face with a new BPA contract for wholesale
power next year and the continuing volatility in the price of natural gas used at the utility’s River
Road Generating Plant," Barnes said. "These are complex contracts requiring careful decisions. I
have an understanding of these issues and the desire and ability to make these decisions and lead
our utility forward."
Barnes lives in Cascade Park with her husband, Daniel Barnes. They have five grown children
and 10 grandchildren. She works in her husband’s CPA and payroll businesses. She has a degree
in English and journalism from Brigham Young University.

national organization that raises funds to fight childhood hunger. Share is competing for a grant
award of $25,000 in the category of "Innovation to Feed Kids When School is Out."

bring much needed funds to Clark County to feed hungry children."

Vancouver area. Share operates four shelters for the homeless, a transitional housing program,
case management programs and a street outreach program. Share also provides daily meals for
the homeless and low-income members of our community. Share also operates a summer meals
program for low-income children and a backpack program benefitting 700 children at 28 schools.
