ENDORSEMENT FOR LEARNING DISABILITIES
FOR ELEMENTARY CERTIFICATION
Updated May 2016
The Special Education endorsement major in Learning Disabilities (State code: SM) for an
Elementary teaching certificate consists of a minimum of 47-48 credits. Students pursuing this major must
also complete requirements for the Comprehensive Major (50 credits).
Teacher candidates for certification must pass the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) in
Learning Disabilities (Test #063). MTTC content exams should not be taken until 90% of course work in
the subject area has been completed.
