General Information—Summer School
Examinations: Each new credit or credit recovery course requires the student to write a
final exam. Dates of the exams will be announced on the first day of Summer School.
Final Report Cards will be mailed to the student’s home and the home school in midAugust.
Students may not be registered in more than one Summer School program (ie. Cannot
register for an eLearning and regular Summer School course.)
How to Register for Summer School

2. Registration information may be found on line at our website

3. Registrations must be submitted no later than 4 PM - Friday, June 24, 2016.
Fees: A non-refundable student services fee of $10.00 will be collected the first class.
ADULT STUDENTS
Students who are 18 years of age or over and have been out of school for more than one
year should register directly with Wellington Centre for Continuing Education with an updated transcript, in person or by phone at 519-836-7280 no later than 4 PM - Friday,
June 24, 2016.
Fees: A non-refundable student services fee of $10.00 will be collected the first class.
Confirmation of registration is not sent out and all students should assume their class is
running and attend on Monday, July 4th. Phone calls will be made only if classes are
cancelled due to lack of enrolment. Transportation is the student’s responsibility.

Senior Science courses will be offered in a blended format: 2 days in class, Mon. & Wed. or Tues. & Thurs.
depending on enrolment, plus 3 days online per week.
e-Learning
e-Learning Summer School provides students with the opportunity to earn a new credit
in a variety of subject areas while maintaining some flexibility in their summer schedule.
Students should expect to work a minimum of 5-6 hours per day to complete their studies, and will need a reliable computer and internet connection for the duration of the
course.
An online orientation session will be offered the first day for students new to e-Learning.
Courses with final exams will require students to arrange a suitable proctor in advance.
The exams will be written on Friday, July 29th. For more information on suitable
proctors please see our website.
All e-Learning Summer School students in Upper Grand schools need to be registered
within the OeLC Registration System via their guidance departments.

Enrichment Opportunity for French Immersion Students
Where will you leave your footprint this summer?
Enroll in the SVN 3MF course: les sciences environnementales
SVN 3M — Grade 11 Environmental Science
This course provides students with the fundamental knowledge of
and skills relating to environmental science that will help them succeed in life after secondary school. Students will explore a range of
topics, including the role of science in addressing contemporary
environmental challenges; the impact of the environment on human
health; sustainable agriculture and forestry; the reduction and management of waste; and the conservation of energy. Students will increase
their scientific and environmental literacy and examine the interrelationships between science, the environment, and society in a variety of
areas.
Prerequisite: Grade 10 Science, Applied or Academic.
This blended course will be taught in French, and will provide ample
opportunity to practice and develop spoken French through oral discussion, interviews, dialogue and presentation. All course work will
be done in French and will include oral and written assignments. You
will develop your research and inquiry skills by working collaboratively with your classmates and with partners from the community.

General Information
Summer School 2016 offers an extensive selection of new credits, make-up and upgrade
courses from Grade 9 to 12. Grade 9 full credit courses are only for students who received
below 35% in these courses in the previous school year. Summer School is not open to students who are entering Grade 9. Students who achieved a credit for a course, but wish to
upgrade their mark, must sign up for a full 4 week session. Classes begin promptly at
8:30am. Tardiness will not be accepted.
DAILY ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY IN ALL CREDIT COURSES.
Completion of a full credit requires 110 classroom hours. Completion of credit recovery
courses requires 55 classroom hours. Poor attendance will result in the student’s removal
from the school register.
CLASSES WILL RUN ONLY IF REGISTRATION MEETS THE MINIMUM ENROLMENT
Registration deadline: 4 PM, June 24th, 2016
New Credit Courses—(20 days)
These courses are intended for students who wish to accelerate towards their diploma or
wish to upgrade a mark in a course in which they were already successful.
Only one 20-day session can be taken.

Credit Recovery Courses - (10 days)
Credit Recovery Courses are intended for students who have received a failed final mark
within the last school year and wish to attempt the course again. To qualify, the student
must have achieved a final mark not less than 35%. A student who has achieved a final
mark less than 35% must take a “new credit” course.
