Yarrow Achillea millefolium Yarrow is a fragrant perennial found in fields and roadsides. Its lacy leaves are finely dissected, and its white flowers with five rays each appear in flat clusters. Though it can sometimes cause a skin reaction, yarrow was used by many native tribes because of its large growing range. It is still used to today to stop the bleeding of wounds, as well as in an herbal tea that can treat colds, fevers, anorexia, indigestion, gastric inflammation, and internal bleeding. The yarrow’s Latin name “achillea” comes from the Greek legend of Achilles in which the hero uses yarrow to stop the bleeding of his wounded soldiers. http://theplantencyclopedia.org/wiki/Achillea_millefolium http://www.mrcindia.org/journal/issues/454301.pdf http://www.herbalextractsplus.com/yarrow.cfm
