Tuliptree Liriodendron tulipifera This tree can get up to 100 feet tall and is found in moist soil. It has leaves that are four-lobed with a notched apex. Its flowers resemble tulips and can be green to greenish yellow or orange. It was used by the Cherokee and Rappahannock tribes. A tea made of its bark was used to treat indigestion, dysentery, rheumatism, pinworms, fevers, malaria, toothaches, and cough. The tea was used as a wash for fractured limbs, boils, and snakebites. An ointment made of the buds was used to treat burns and other inflammation.
