Alumroot Heuchera americana The alumroot is a perennial found in woods and on shaded rocks. It must be grown in a location where it will receive sun only in the cool hours of the day. Its leaves are toothed and round with a heart-shaped base, and its small flowers are greenish white in color. It was used by the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Creek, Menominee, and Meskwaki Native Americans, and it is still used today. A tea made of its leaves is used to treat diarrhea, dysentery, and piles and can be gargled for sore throats. The root can be made into a poultice to put on wounds, sores, and abrasions. http://theplantencyclopedia.org/wiki/Heuchera http://www.altmd.com/Articles/Alum-Root-Herbal-Remedies http://www.herbalextractsplus.com/alum-root.cfm
