Unit Name: Student Life – Office of Multicultural Affairs
Unit Mission: ESF Multicultural Affairs exists to support underrepresented students and to foster a campus community where cultural diversity is appreciated. The Office seeks
to be a center of cultural learning that prepares all members of the ESF community to effectively interact with others in an increasingly diverse and global society.

Numerous students visit the office
daily – 15 on average, whereas few
faculty & staff visit – about 5
monthly, and for purely business
matters.
AIDS Quilt
28 patches added yearly, mostly by
students, a few staff, virtually no
faculty.
Cultural Book Club
More student participants, 3-4 staff
participants – fluctuates, no faculty,

Heritage Month Celebration Displays
- Host a free “Hot Beverage and Pastry
Hour” focusing on the culture being
celebrated - 8-9 AM (a time when
fewer students stop by but when
faculty and staff are around) one day
per week during the month.
AIDS Quilt
-Personally invite faculty and staff
-Have a feedback sheet at display in
the Rotunda

Attendance for Multicultural Affairs

average at 17 out of 50 eligible CSTEP
students. Average attendance at
other Student Life academic/career
events was about 2-3.
Pre-Orientation
- From 2004-2009, there were 85
Pre-O participants
-The retention and graduation rate of
Pre-O participants was 72%
-Student gave a 4.5 out of 5 rating for
overall satisfaction, presenters,
bonding, learning activities, and
recreation.
-Students would increase the amount
of time outdoors

All Fellows except one graduated
from ESF since 2003.
