Statement by the City’s Executive Mayor, Patricia de Lille
City wishes all Jewish residents Chag Sameach
This evening, 22 April 2016, signals the start of the Jewish Passover.
This is a significant biblically derived festival for the Jewish community as they
celebrate Passover or Pesach in remembrance of their liberation by God
from slavery in Egypt and their freedom as a nation.
Pesach comes just days before National Freedom Day and collectively we
can reflect on our history and celebrate those who have worked hard and
made sacrifices to attain our freedom.

Sameach.
