Greenacres Foundation in Southwestern Ohio is looking for a Farm Production Manager to oversee
animal care and production. We are an environmentally sensitive organization and practice sustainable
agriculture. All animals are raised in a grass fed model without hormones or antibiotics. Applicants
should possess skills required to be able to fulfill the job described below:
FARM PRODUCTION MANAGER
Objective: Manage animal care and production. Maintain pastures to ensure maximum grass-fed
stocking densities. Oversee and assure that all animal facilities and pastures always meet company
standards for animal care. Oversee and schedule staff. Manage budget and other administrative tasks.
Support education mission.
Essential Functions



Animal Care Management
o Oversee care for cows, chickens, turkeys, sheep, donkeys including daily health checks
and improving overall animal healthcare.
 Nutrition
 Feed
 Supplements
 Rotation of pastures
 Move fences; move animal groups
 Topping of pastures maintaining available forage
 Bushhogging
 Animal Infrastructure
 Waterlines, electric and permanent fences
 Waterers and feed tubs
 Indoor and winter facilities maintenance
o Haying
 Harvest Indian Hill green areas and other properties for winter hay supply
 Order additional hay to offset planned stock density with production
shortfalls
Employee and Volunteer Management
o Plan daily/weekly scheduling and duties
o Administrative duties
o Utilize and mentor volunteers/apprentices as needed
Administration
o Create and maintain budget
o Order feed/animal supplies/meds
o Plan and coordinate repairs, maintenance, and improvements to fences, pastures,
buildings and animal housing facilities
o Farm Store Harvesting-inventory and stock fridge, inventory and organize freezers
o Plan production schedule for poultry and notify Farm Store Manager

Facilities Management
o Repair fences, waterlines, etc. as needed
o Maintain adequate bedding of indoor animal facilities
o Clean barns, chicken house
o Maintain sanitary animal eating and drinking containers
o Strip graze stockpiled winter forages
o Scrape off feed pads; Manage winter manure and feed pad piles
Qualifications:





Thorough knowledge of animal management and sustainable/ecological agriculture
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Computer skills
Bachelor’s Degree or other formal education preferred
5-10 years large animal experience preferred

Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Other:
This is a hands-on, in the field position. Although there are administrative tasks as well, the bulk of each
day will be spent in the fields with the animals.
