Digital and Marketing Officer Responsible to: Head of Marketing Responsible for: not applicable Place of work: Coliseum Theatre Pension: The Coliseum offers a contributory group stakeholder pension scheme through Friends Provident for permanent members of staff with a minimum of six months service. The Coliseum will make a contribution of up to 3% of basic salary to match the employee contribution. Company Rules: All Oldham Coliseum employees are required to comply with the current Health & Safety requirements and disciplinary grievance procedures and other policies and procedures Salary: £17,000 - £19,600 Dependent on experience Hours of work: 156 hours to be worked flexibly, usually distributed across a four week period, this equates to an average of 39 hours per week. It will involve some evening and weekend work. No overtime is payable, however time off in lieu can be taken. Period notice: The post will have a three month probationary period. After the probationary period the post is subject to one months notice on either side. Holidays: 20 days per year rising to 22 after three years service and 25 after five years service. Public holidays will be in addition to the above. OLDHAM COLISEUM THEATRE Digital and Marketing Officer CORE PURPOSE Work closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications Officer to develop and deliver a digital marketing strategy in line with the corporate objectives of the Coliseum. Work with the marketing team to help develop a strategy which will increase traffic to the Coliseum website, improve the user experience, maximise user satisfaction and loyalty, create competitive advantage, reinforce the brand and maximise revenue generation. The strategy will be achieved through the creative development of web content and the use of digital marketing tools and related media, and will specifically target communication with audiences, corporate stakeholders and a range of visitors to the Coliseum website. DUTIES Commission aspects of print, liaising with suppliers, designers and co-ordination of print distribution; Liaise with visiting companies in relation to print; Co-ordinate direct mails, with some repsonsibilty for content; To develop engaging online content, writing copy for a range of audiences, ensuring the website is kept up to date and relevant; Ensure website navigation and structure meet user needs and communicate the brand, personality and business aims of the Coliseum, with responsibility for guarding and promoting the Coliseum brand online; Work closely with the Head of Marketing to develop web content and fully integrate digital campaigns expand and develop audiences and maximise revenue. Set up online promotions and competitions; Work closely with colleagues across the team to define target audiences, develop campaign themes and agree copy and imagery; Take responsibility for digital campaign fulfilment including web, email, online advertising, SMS, social media including Facebook and Twitter; Regularly evaluate and report on website & promotional activity; In collaboration with the Communications Officer develop online PR opportunities; Update front of house displays including plasma screens promoting events and key activities; To assist in maintaining and preparing accurate data of the box office system; GENERAL To deputise for the Head of Marketing as required; To represent the Coliseum at meetings with outside bodies as requested; To be aware of Coliseum productions and activities, and read play scripts for repertory productions; To undertake relevant training as agreed with the Head of Marketing; To ensure the delivery of the highest standards of customer care; To attend events as required; To undertake any other relevant duties as may be requested by the Head of Marketing; PERSON SPECIFICATION EXPERIENCE Essential Experience of working in a marketing environment; Experience of using social media in a professional context; Experience of working on direct mail campaigns; Desirable Experience of working in an arts marketing role; Experience of commissioning photographers and designers; Experience of working in an arts or cultural environment; Experience of using online mailing systems, e.g. Mailchimp; SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Essential Persuasive copywriting skills; Strong design sense; Numerate and comfortable when working with figures, spreadsheets and tables; Excellent IT skills: a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office package; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Desirable A working knowledge of using a Box Office system; Knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Suite package; ATTRIBUTES Essential A passion for theatre and the arts; An enthusiastic and creative approach to marketing the theatre and its activities; An ability to promote a positive image of the Coliseum; A willingness to train in new areas – e.g website, data analysis; Ability to work to tight budgets and under pressure; Ability to work to multiple deadlines; Self motivating; Diplomatic skills when dealing with colleagues and customers; Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings;
