Local Patient Participation Report
The PPG is comprised of male and females between the age of 35-75 registered at Grays Medical Practice and
Gosbury Hill GP Clinic. Patients can request to join the patient participation group at any time, their names will
be stored on a list and then recalled when a meeting is taking place. We also ask newly registered patients if
they would like to join the PPG on our registration forms. When an upcoming PPG meeting is taking place
notices will be placed into the waiting room, this notice will also ask any patients wishing to join the PPG to
attend the next meeting.
Annually we run a patient survey at Grays and Gosbury; we determine which issues need patient’s feedback by
looking back over the issues we have experienced during the past 12 months. We are in constant contact with
all patients who often highlight any positive or negative feedback to us throughout the year which also shapes
what questions we decide to ask our general patient population.
This year we decided to use the GPAQ survey as we felt that it included a lot of the issues that we had within
the practice including how easy it was to get through to the GP practice via telephone, reception staff and the
continuity of GPs. The survey was put in the reception area of the practices for a week long period. Once this
time frame was up, we then analysed the results ourselves, put the results into graphs and invited the
members of the PPG to attend a meeting to discuss what our results found.
On the whole the PPG meeting was positive, as was the feedback that we had obtained from the GPAQ
questionnaires. Action plans that were put in place did not warrant submission to NHS England, nor did any
contractual agreements change. The action plans included keeping patients more informed, we are to do this
by providing newsletters monthly, these will be posted on our website and copies will be placed in the waiting
room for those who do not have internet access. Also, we are to inform patients of which surgeries are running
daily with which Doctors. A notice will be placed in reception every morning. We shall also be keeping in
regular contact with Head Office IT department regarding the problems with our telephone lines.
As both surgeries are part of the extended opening hours scheme, opening times of the surgeries are displayed
in the waiting room so patients are aware that appointments are available up until 7.30pm on a Tuesday and
7pm on a Friday. Gosbury Hill is open from 8am-8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
