differences, and prejudice
Class prerequisites
• Intro to Psychology
• Technically, research methods and social
psychology are required (if it were a landbased class), but one or both of those
requirements may be waived if you would
benefit from the class—talk to me about it.
Course requirements

Grading scheme:
Project (proposal; IRB; data collection; final paper)
50%
Participation (thoughtful, informed group discussion
contributions; positive, on-time participation in
activities; cooperative group interactions)
25%
Pre-trip and on-trip activities (assignments, presentation) 25%
Cross-cultural research project
• Work alone or in pairs or groups of 3
• Design your own project examining a social
behavior or response
• Write proposal and get IRB approval in US
• Collect data in several locations in US, UK, and
Spain
• Analyze data and draw conclusions—due after
return
• Present it at a conference later if you want!

Evening events
• Walk on Las Ramblas
• Fountain show at Montjuic
Overnight trip (tentative)
• Granada and Jaen
– Visit the Alhambra, a Moorish palace
– Meet with students at the University of Jaen
Tentative costs
• This is a HIGH estimate—b/c Study Abroad
doesn’t want you to get hit with a surprise, and
not knowing what the dollar will be doing by
then, etc. It will most likely be less, maybe even
much less.
• $2600 + tuition + international airfare ($950 for
those who’ve already bought)
• Includes everything except some meals, optional
things you may want to do, and souvenirs.
• Doesn’t have to all be paid at once.
How do I sign up?
• Fill out the Study Abroad application online at
their website (look under England, then
Psychology in England and Spain).
• Pay the Study Abroad application fee to their
office.
• That saves your space!
• If you have questions about the course, ask me. If
