HOW DO PEOPLE INHERIT
THE DISORDER?
• One copy of the altered gene in each cell is sufficient
(autosomal dominant pattern)
• Located on 15 chromosomes

SYNDROME?
• Doctors check your medical and family histories
• Take a physical exam
• Usually hard to diagnose because there similar to other
connective tissue disorders
ANY TREATMENTS?
• No cure or treatment to Marfan Syndrome
IS IT A COMMON
DISORDER?
• 1 in 5000 people world wide have Marfan Syndrome
• 50% chance of passing the altered gene to your kids

• February is Marfan Syndromes awareness month
