Greek Core The purpose of the Greek Core is to develop leaders, cultivate intellectual growth, build relevant community relations, and strengthen fraternal bonds. Through participation: - Students will be able to work with other members of Greek chapters. Students will become immersed in the Greek community, the K-State community and the Manhattan community. Students will get hands on leadership experience. Students will gain knowledge about the Interfraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council. The Greek Core programming will consist of the four core values through various activities and presentations: 1. Leadership: Those selected will spend a day working together and exploring leadership at the K-State Challenge Course. 2. Intellectual Growth: Will consist of presentations about scholarship, academic and professional development opportunities at K-State. Possible presenters could include ACIC, CES, etc. 3. Community: Learn more about the Manhattan community by meeting with community groups and leaders. City officials could be from Manhattan Parks & Recreation Services, city council, local charity groups, and various members of the Manhattan community. 4. Fraternal Bonds: Spend an evening learning about how our Greek Community interacts and is led. This session will focus on how our Interfraternity and Panhellenic Councils function and interact. We will also explore other leadership opportunities available within our Greek Community. *After training is complete, the Greek Core will have the opportunity to assist the Vice President of IFC and PHC in planning and implementation of Fall 2013 Greek Leads. Requirements for application: Must be a new member for the 2012-2013 school year, this includes members who joined in the Spring or Fall of 2012. Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative K-State GPA, to be verified at the end of the fall 2012 semester.
